About Us
C‑Desk Technology is led by Dr Angela Moore and Alec Jezewski, specialists in workforce planning with more than 30 years experience designing tailored shift operations for some of the world’s largest and most complex organisations. Our work spans manufacturing, healthcare, logistics, emergency services, and multi‑site operations where precision, fairness, and reliability are essential.
We believe that effective workforce planning is about more than numbers on a spreadsheet. It is about people — their wellbeing, their families, their commitments, and their ability to thrive at work. Our mission is to help organisations create shift systems that are efficient, sustainable, and genuinely supportive of the people who keep the business running.
Our approach blends operational research, data‑driven modelling, and deep practical experience. We design shift patterns that balance productivity with fairness, and we support organisations through every stage of implementation, from initial modelling to full migration planning. Whether you are introducing a new rota, restructuring a department, or managing a large‑scale change programme, we provide clear, evidence‑based guidance that reduces risk and builds trust.
Alongside consultancy, we offer a full suite of training options — from online courses and on‑demand learning libraries to in‑person, company‑specific training days. Our programmes equip managers, planners, and operational leaders with the skills they need to run their shift systems confidently and consistently.
At the heart of our work is a simple belief: when you design work around people, everyone benefits — the organisation, the workforce, and the communities they support.

IT’S ALL ABOUT YOU
We work with organisations across every sector where reliable 24/7 coverage matters — from manufacturing and healthcare to logistics, emergency services, and complex multi‑site operations. Today, customers expect to be served on their schedule, not yours, and that creates real pressure on teams, staffing, and service levels.
Our role is to help you meet those expectations safely and sustainably. We design fair, efficient, fatigue‑aware shift systems that give you the coverage you need, the flexibility your operation demands, and the work–life balance your people deserve. The result is simple: you can make more, serve more, and do more — with confidence, clarity, and optimum efficiency.
Public Sector
We’re proud to have worked with many public sector teams who deliver essential services every day. From councils and universities to emergency services and national organisations, we’ve helped them design shift systems that support both their people and their workload.

Case Example: Designing a Continuity‑Focused Shift Pattern for Chelsea Hospital
Chelsea Hospital approached us with a challenge that was both clinically important and operationally unusual: they needed a shift pattern that guaranteed continuity. Not just good handovers, but a structure where every day’s team included someone who was on shift yesterday, and someone who would also be there tomorrow.
For a hospital environment, this level of continuity is invaluable. If a patient’s condition changes, there must be someone on duty who witnessed it first‑hand. Someone who can relay the nuance, context and clinical judgement that no written note or digital system can fully capture. Chelsea Hospital wanted a pattern that protected this flow of information, ensuring safer, more consistent care.
But continuity alone wasn’t enough. The shift pattern also had to be:
- Fair for the nursing team
- Sustainable, with fatigue kept to a minimum
- Aligned with the real workload
- Practical, including a cover arrangement that preserved continuity even during absences
- Something nurses would genuinely enjoy working on
Balancing all of these requirements meant stepping outside the boundaries of traditional healthcare shift systems. We modelled multiple options, tested different rotation lengths, and explored how continuity could be built into both the core pattern and the cover structure. The goal was to create a rota that felt natural to work, protected wellbeing, and still delivered the clinical consistency the hospital needed.
The final design was a unique shift pattern tailored specifically to Chelsea Hospital’s priorities. It ensured that every day’s team included familiar faces with recent knowledge of each patient’s condition, while still giving nurses a fair, predictable and manageable working rhythm. It was a tricky challenge — but an enjoyable one — and a perfect example of how thoughtful shift design can support both staff and patient care.

🌍 Working Across International Laws and Global Teams
When organisations operate across borders, they often aim to create a seamless global operation — teams in different countries handing over work smoothly, sharing expertise, and supporting customers around the clock. But what many leaders underestimate is that every country has its own employment laws, working‑time rules, cultural expectations, and operational constraints. A shift pattern that is perfectly legal and sustainable in one country may be completely unworkable, or even unlawful, in another.
This is where our expertise becomes essential.
We work with organisations around the world to design shift systems that connect international teams without forcing them into a one‑size‑fits‑all model. Each location must comply with its own labour laws, rest‑break requirements, night‑work protections, maximum hours, and local customs. Our role is to ensure that every team operates safely and legally while still functioning as part of a unified global operation.
We tailor each country’s shift system individually, respecting local legislation, cultural norms, and operational realities, and then align those systems so they work together seamlessly. The result is a global workforce that collaborates smoothly, hands over effectively, and maintains consistent service levels, without compromising fairness, wellbeing, or legal compliance.
In short: we help organisations build global operations that work in practice, not just on paper, legally sound, culturally aware, and operationally connected.
For more than 30 years we’ve helped private‑sector organisations improve the way they run their shift operations. From manufacturing and food production to logistics, energy, media and finance, our clients trust us to design fair, efficient and sustainable shift systems that support both their people and their workload.
Every organisation is different, but the challenges are often the same: staffing pressures, fairness concerns, fatigue, rising demand, and the need for a system that works in the real world. We bring deep operational expertise, clear communication and practical modelling to help teams make confident, evidence‑based decisions.
The companies here represent just some of the private‑sector organisations who have chosen us to support their shift pattern design, workforce planning, migration planning and training. Their trust reflects our commitment to delivering solutions that are fair, robust and built to last.
